Konya Metropolitan Municipality is building concrete barriers with a slip form system on the Adliye-City Hospital-Stadium Tramway Line.
Konya Metropolitan Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay recalled that they are diligently working to realize the most important transportation projects in Konya’s history during this period.
In this context, Mayor Altay stated that they have reached an important stage in the first phase construction of the Adliye-City Hospital-Stadium Tramway Line, which is still under construction by the municipality, and that they are producing concrete barriers quickly and safely using a system that has been applied for the first time, without closing traffic.
Providing information about the concrete barriers made with the slip form system, Mayor Altay said, “Due to the heavy freight traffic along the tramway route, we are making concrete barriers on a steel slip form on-site with a finisher vehicle. Thanks to this, we are separating the barrier production from traffic, ensuring maximum traffic flow,” he said.
Mayor Altay emphasized that the barrier has a long lifespan and is sturdy, saying, “We will build a total of 18 kilometers of barriers. We have already completed 8 kilometers. We plan to finish the remaining 10 kilometers within 2 months as the weather permits. We are pouring a zero slump concrete produced with a special recipe. We also add a special micro fiber fiber into it. The barriers we have built have an average lifespan of 50 years. Since they will not absorb water in winter, we produce them to be much more resistant to freezing. When we complete the rail systems, our Konya will experience a top-tier public transportation system,” he said.
