The new facility, covering a total area of 15,000 square meters, aims to offer advanced maintenance and repair services. Modern maintenance units will be equipped with five rail systems, wheel profiling machines, and high-precision lathes. Supporting both DC and Multi-System locomotives, this infrastructure is designed to seamlessly manage different systems and signaling protocols from various European countries.
Designed with cutting-edge technological equipment and sustainable energy use, this facility will also incorporate energy-efficient systems that minimize environmental impacts. Crucially, this infrastructure will perform rapid locomotive servicing to maximize operational efficiency and significantly reduce train downtime.
The primary reason for choosing Verona is its central position within Europe’s transportation network and its connectivity to major projects. Particularly, with the expected commissioning of the Brenner Tunnel, which crosses the Alps, scheduled for 2032, the region is predicted to become a key point in international freight traffic. In light of these developments, the maintenance center in Verona is transforming into a leading logistics hub at the intersection of Europe’s most heavily trafficked railway lines.
