Polish Rails with Swiss Signature: Stadler FLIRT

Poland’s Advanced Step in Transportation Infrastructure: New FLIRT Trains

Poland’s leading regional train operator Koleje Mazowieckie took a revolutionary step in the transportation sector. This move, aligning with the vision of creating a modern, sustainable, and high-capacity train fleet, involved signing a long-term partnership with Swiss train manufacturer Stadler. This agreement aims to strengthen Poland’s transportation infrastructure with Stadler’s latest generation FLIRT suitable trains, which are at the forefront of international transportation technology.

Strategic Agreement and Total Investment Value

This significant collaboration represents an agreement worth approximately 168.8 million Euros and involves the purchase of 75 FLIRT trains by Koleje Mazowieckie. With this investment, a substantial contribution is intended to be made to the capacity of the regional transit network. Additionally, the financing of this large-scale investment is secured through a non-repayable financial support of 1.5 billion PLN, a major support program from the European Union. This financing demonstrates Poland’s commitment to sustainable and technologically advanced transportation.

Production and Delivery Process

The new trains will be assembled at Stadler’s production facility in Siedlce, Poland. This location provides regional economic benefits, increasing employment and strengthening the local industry. Ergonomically and technologically designed FLIRT trains will deliver their first units in April 2026, with the entire fleet to be completed by the end of 2027. This will mark a new era in the region’s transportation infrastructure and offer passengers modern, fast, and comfortable travel experiences.

Fleet Expansion and Leadership Goals

With this new investment, Koleje Mazowieckie’s total train fleet will reach 146 units, making it the largest regional train fleet in Poland. This growth will enhance the quality of transportation services and invigorate the regional economy. Furthermore, the high-performance features of these trains will significantly contribute to reducing traffic congestion in the region and minimizing environmental impacts.

Technological Features and Passenger Comfort

The design of FLIRT trains aligns with modern safety and comfort standards. With a maximum speed of approximately 160 km/h, travel times will be significantly shortened. Thanks to their lightweight aluminum body construction, energy efficiency will be maximized, and considering the passenger capacity, the total capacity will reach 600 persons. With spacious seating arrangements, large windows, and advanced internal fittings, these trains provide top-level comfort and experience, making them a preferred alternative in regional transportation.

Advanced Technological Equipment

These trains, rich in high-tech equipment, are equipped with air conditioning, Wi-Fi access, CCTV systems, and passenger information systems. These features increase safety and maximize comfort during the journey. Additionally, environmentally friendly, energy-saving technologies play a critical role in achieving sustainable transportation goals.

Leadership in Sustainable Transportation

This large-scale investment and manufacturing initiative demonstrate Poland’s commitment to sustainability in transportation. The new fleet, equipped with modern, eco-friendly, and high-efficiency trains, will not only improve regional transit quality but also contribute to ecological balance by reducing carbon emissions. Stadler’s innovative technologies and Koleje Mazowieckie’s local leadership are shaping the future of regional transit.
