Poland continues to fundamentally transform its regional and European transportation network through large-scale modernization projects of its railway infrastructure. These projects have not only advanced infrastructure development but also set high standards in sustainability, safety, and accessibility.
High Growth Potential in Capacity Increase for Main Line 202
With this newly developed project, the capacity on main line 202 will be significantly increased. By converting existing single-track routes into double tracks, train travel speeds and carrying capacities will be enhanced. These infrastructure upgrades will improve transportation between Trójmiasto and Słupsk and will greatly contribute to the region’s economic development.
High-Performance and Reliable Railway Services
Within the scope of the project, signaling and control systems will be modernized to maximize train safety and efficiency. New signaling systems will automatically adjust according to weather conditions and traffic density, enabling trains to reach speeds of up to 160 km/h. These speeds will reduce travel times by 15 minutes, saving passengers time.
Modern Stations and Accessibility Enhancing Public Access
Fundamental changes in the region’s transportation infrastructure will be implemented at 14 stations and stops. Each station will be upgraded to meet modern local accessibility standards, allowing individuals with mobility impairments to use them comfortably. Additionally, new stops constructed in Wejherowo and surrounding areas will strengthen regional social mobility and economic interaction.
High-Tech Infrastructure and Safety Measures
About 55 kilometers of the line will be reconstructed, increasing the overall durability and performance of the infrastructure. Bridges, viaducts, and underpasses will be renewed with modern engineering solutions, elevating railway safety to the highest level. Moreover, replacing 12 level crossings with integrated overpasses and tunnels will prevent accidents.
Advanced Control and Monitoring Systems
The new control center introduced with the project will enable centralized management of all train movements. This system, with real-time traffic monitoring, automatic alerts, and rapid response capabilities, will significantly enhance transportation accuracy and safety standards. This infrastructure investment will increase train speeds while also ensuring safety and sustainability.
Innovative Speed Goals and the Future Vision of Railways
Once construction is completed, trains on the line will be able to reach 160 km/h. This will bring major improvements in travel times and, with a long-term target of 200 km/h, will integrate the region into the European transport network. These developments will increase the sector’s competitive edge and contribute to regional economic growth.
